The Importance of Preventative Care for Equines

Preventive care plays a pivotal role in maintaining optimal health for your horses. Regular check-ups help us identify potential health issues before they become serious problems—saving you time, money, and, most importantly, discomfort or pain for your horse.

We offer a wide range of wellness and preventive care services, tailored to meet the unique needs of each horse we treat, including:

Vaccinations

We provide essential vaccinations that protect against infectious diseases such as influenza, tetanus, Eastern/Western equine encephalitis, and more.

Nutrition Counseling

A balanced diet is crucial for your horse's well-being. Our team can provide you with expert advice on the nutritional needs of your equines to keep them healthy and fit.

Parasite Control

We offer effective parasite control strategies, which include regular fecal testing and deworming programs tailored to each horse.

Dental Health

Maintaining your horse’s oral health is important for preventing feeding, gastrointestinal tract complications, and performance. A complete dental exam performed annually, or every 6 months in some cases, is important to eliminate the sharp points that develop on your horse’s teeth as they continually erupt throughout its life. Complications such as dropping weight, choking and fighting the bit can be signs of poor dental health.

Coggins & Health Certificates

Equine Infectious Anemia is a viral disease spread by horse flies for which no vaccine or cure exists. A simple blood test called a Coggins test is performed to examine your horse’s blood for antibodies. Horses traveling boarded, going to shows, or being sold must have a negative Coggins exam. Additionally, to cross state lines, horses must have a negative Coggins and a health certificate. Our nationally accredited veterinarians can pull bloodwork for Coggins and write health certificates. We can obtain Coggins in as little as 48 hours.
