The Lebanon Equine Clinic Veterinarians
William R. Lukens, D.V.M.
is a 1980 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and comes from a family of veterinarians. His grandfather (Dr. Bill Lukens) and his uncle (Dr. Bill Lukens) both from Hillsboro, OH were 1912 and 1938 graduates of Ohio State’s Veterinary College. Bill’s son, Ryan, will graduate from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in the year 2012, one hundred years after his great-grandfather. Dr. Lukens concentrates his practice on the diagnosis and treatment of lameness in show and performance horses and thoroughly enjoys the challenge of difficult cases. Michael A. Farwick, D.V.M.
is a 1991 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine. In 1980 he joined Lebanon Equine Clinic, following in his father’s footsteps. Dr. Dan Farwick started LEC in 1958. He has a special interest in lameness, particularly relating to racetrack cases and ultrasound. Dr. Farwick lives in Loveland with his wife, Lisa and children Jake, Nate and Sydney. His hobbies include: water skiing, golf, running and spending time with his family. Scott E. Strosnider D.V.M.
is a 1998 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He’s had a life-long association with horses having grown up in the family business of cutting and pleasure horses. The barn built by the Strosnider family is in Amelia. Prior to joining LEC in 1999, Dr. Strosnider completed an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. He has extensive experience in dental care. An interest in alternative forms of medicine led Dr. Strosnider to study acupuncture and chiropractics. He is certified by the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture. He is a member of the International Veterinary and Acupuncture Society, the American Association of Equine Practitioners and is committee chair of the Equine Advocacy Committee of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association. Derek C. McFadden, D.V.M.
is a 1998 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. McFadden joined LEC in the summer of 2000 after 2 years of service in a 10 doctor equine practice in Northeastern Ohio (Aurora Equine Veterinary Services/Equine Specialty Hospital). He has particular interest in Equine Reproduction and Embryo Transfer in addition to sport horse medicine and lameness. Bryan C. McNabb, D.V.M.
is a 2003 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Growing up in the Cincinnati area, he was a member of the United States Pony Club and competed in dressage, cross country, show jumping and polo. Dr. McNabb was the four-year president of his class as well as being honored as the most outstanding student for "Excellence in Equine Medicine and Surgery." Dr. McNabb most enjoys the diagnosis and treatment of challenging lameness issues of the performance horse and medical cases. He currently is enjoying being an active member of the Camargo Fox Hunting Club. John Anthony Megaro, D.V.M.
Dr. Megaro is a 2008 graduate of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. He joined the LEC staff in June of 2008 and completed a one-year internship under the five doctors. As of June 2009, he has joined the practice as an associate. Though a Chicago native, he spent a large part of his life working on his grandfather’s farm in Chillicothe. Chris Franklin, Receptionist
Chris has been a member of the Lebanon Equine Clinic staff since 1988. She has lived in the Lebanon/Waynesville area for over 20 years. Her interests include boating, traveling and enjoying time at home with her husband, two sons and a menagerie of furry friends including 2 dogs, 3 cats and four horses.
Helen Furterer, R.V.T.
Growing up in a large family in Cincinnati, Helen drove them all crazy with her obsession with horses. She spent her formative years riding at the Indian Hill Riding Club and has ridden and shown all of her adult life. After graduation from Miami University, her first horse led her to veterinary medicine because of its many health issues. Helen went on to school to get a veterinary technician degree at Columbus State University/OSU. Helen has worked for LEC since 1998 and lives in Loveland with her husband Don, 2 kids and many critters.
Jan Delzell, Veterinary Assistant/Office Staff
Jan has been with LEC since 1994. Her background includes work as a veterinary technician at Marion Dupont Scott Equine Medical Center in Virginia, Illinois Equine Clinic and New England Equine Practice in New York. Jan currently works at LEC as a veterinary assistant, inventory manager and receptionist. Jan has ridden and worked with horses since the age of six. She owns and manages Idle Hour Farm. Jan lives in Lebanon with her husband Cliff, two whippets, two goats, four chickens, a geriatric pony and a turtle.
Karmen Widmeyer, Receptionist
Karmen has lived in Maineville for 14 years with her husband and 3 children. Her "family" also consists of 2 Shih Tzus, "Minni" and "Gizmo", and "Louie" the cat. She has been part of the Lebanon Equine Clinic family for 8 years and is very excited about Lebanon Small Animal Clinic due to her true love for animals. She looks forward to meeting you and the rest of your "family".
Jenny Belmont, RVT
Jenny was raised on a dairy farm and her life-long love of animals led her to pursue a career in veterinary technology. She graduated from the UC Raymond Walters College Veterinary Technology program in 2002. She is a member of the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians. Recently married, Jenny and her husband live in Blanchester with 2 horses and 2 dogs.
Michael Shinski, LVT/RVT
Mike was born and raised in upstate New York. He earned an A.A.S. in Veterinary Science Technology from SUNY Canton in 1999. He continued his education and was employed at Cornell University Hospital for Animals in Ithaca, NY, with a focus on ICU and emergency medicine. Following academic practice, he was employed at Battenkill Veterinary Equine Clinic located in Greenwich, NY. He continued to hone his skills in private practice with a heavy caseload in anesthesia and surgical assisting. He has been with Lebanon Equine Clinic since 2005. He has also found a special interest in neo-natal medicine and reproduction.
Julie Martin, Veterinary Assistant
Julie grew up in Hudson, Ohio and showed on the Cleveland circuit until she moved to Cincinnati for college. She was a member of the UC equestrian team. After graduating from UC with a degree in Communications in 2002, Julie began her own business as an equine photographer. She has worked at LEC since 2004 and continues the photography on weekends. Her pride and joy is Edgewood Farm, her 15 acre farm in Morrow where she boards and breeds Warmbloods.
Julie Cracolici, Veterinary Assistant
Julie is a graduate of UC’s College Conservatory Music. She joined Lebanon Equine Clinic after a career in television in Cincinnati. In 2008, she completed an equine studies program offered through the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians. She is currently studying to be a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist. She is a member of the Warren County Chapter of Ohio Horsemen’s Council, the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. Julie lives on a small farm in Oregonia with her husband, her horse and many other animals too numerous to mention.
Lynne Hollingshead, Caretaker
Lynne has been a horse lover her entire life and enjoys working around all of the different equine patients treated at LEC. When not at the clinic, she has had a long-time business designing custom stained glass windows, and in more recent years added a floral business specializing in flowers for weddings and banquets. She and her husband live on a small farm just down the road from LEC and have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
